Raw Rice-1 cup

Moong dal/Pasiparupu-1/3 cup

Bengal gram dal/Kadala parupu– 1/3 cup

Full fat/cream Milk-5 cups

Jaggery-1 cup

Sugar-1 cup

Ghee- ¼  t

o ½ cup

Cashews– a few

Raisins– a few


1.Dry roast rice, moong dal and bengal gram dal in 2 tbsps of ghee

2.Add milk and pressure cook for 3 whristles

3.Dilute sugar, jaggery in ¼ cup of water and boil it until all gets melted

4.Strain the jaggery syrup to the rice

5.Cook the rice again, and smash it well

6.Heat the ghee, fry the cashews to slight brown and off the flame and then add the raisins… Garnish the rice

              ·         I used achu vellam ,any pale yellowish works fine for this. If you want little running consistency, add a cup of hot water and stir at last stage, it works..

              ·         It was mildly sweet with right blend of milk, dal and rice
